How Sweet It Is...

Again, getting caught up!  The night before Valentine's Day, Russell felt baby Haven kick for the first time!  It was so neat!  We were watching TV and he had his hand on my tummy.  A couple minutes later, wham!  We both looked at each other at the same time with excitement all over our faces!  He thought it was so cool!  I have been enjoying all of her little movements, but it is more fun now that Russell can feel her too!

The next morning I was up early and working on the computer, when Russell comes around the corner with my Valentine's gift!

He draped this around a little stuffed giraffe!  It was so cute!  Jewelry?!?  I haven't gotten jewelry from him since my wedding band!  Really it's b/c I don't wear much jewelry so why waste the money... but I am wearing this!!  I love pearls anyway so I immediately loved it!  But then he told me that he did some research and figured out that the pearl is the birth stone for June!  I immediately started crying... see Hormonal Hannah post... and couldn't thank him enough.  What a sweet and thoughtful gift!  I love it!!  Thank you hubby for making it such a special Valentine's Day this year!  I love you so much!

P.S.  How lucky are June birthday girls?  Pearls for your birth stone?!  LOVE IT!!!

First Purchases

Feeling the need to get caught up!!  So about 3 weeks or so ago I saw this little skirt at Target and had to have it.  We didn't know we were having a girl yet, but I couldn't resist.  I love it!

Then a week after that I saw this little outfit in the clearance section at Target and couldn't pass it up.  My plan was to just gift the girly items to some friends of ours if it turned out we were having a boy, but I get to keep them after all!

So I stopped buying things.  But the day we found out it was a girl, Russell and I HAD to go buy something else.  We went to Babies R Us and had so much trouble deciding on 1 thing!  I ended up letting Russell pick and he decided on this sweet, simple little dress and headbands. :)

I have since been shopping with my parents, sister, and grandma and I already feel spoiled!!  Haven got some sweet little onesies, burp cloths, and hair bows!  Shopping for a little girl is DANGEROUS, but oh so fun!

What's In A Name?

Haven Jane Friske!  That's her name!!!  I think we officially decided on our "babymoon" trip but I didn't want to say anything until we found out if it was a girl!  So what's in a name?

Haven is my grandmother's maiden name.  I love you Gran!  I absolutely LOVE it.  I love the special significance it has, I love how it sounds with Friske, I love everything about it!  It's perfect!  And Jane is my middle name so we are passing that down as well.  If she had been a boy, we were going to pass down Russell's middle name (William) as the middle name, so we decided to follow suit in naming our baby girl. And I love how it sounds with Haven!  I have already started buying "H" things!  So fun!  We can't wait until sweet Haven Jane Friske arrives in June!

It's a Girl!!!

I can't believe it's taken me a week to get this posted!!!  If somehow you missed a phone call, text message, or facebook post, we are having a baby GIRL!!!  We are so excited!!!  As you know, the anticipation was killing me.  We drove through some snow and lots of traffic to get to the doctor last Thursday morning.  I was SO anxious!  I laid on the ultrasound table and watched as the ultrasound tech examined the baby's head, abdomen, arms, legs, etc.  It was so neat to see that the little jelly bean looks like a baby now!  Then it was time to look at the goods... "Those are definitely little GIRL parts!"  I literally SCREAMED.  I think the whole doctor's office probably heard me.  Russell was holding one hand and my other arm shot up into the air like some well-choreographed dance move while "YAY!!!" came loudly out of my mouth.  At that point I remembered I was in a doctor's office and calmed myself down a bit.  Russell was grinning ear to ear and SO happy.  He also gave me the "I told you so!" b/c he's been saying it's a girl this entire time.  I teared up and watched the screen as the tech continued to exam her organs, measure things, etc.  Most importantly, our baby girl is measuring well and she looks normal and healthy!  We are SO blessed and excited for what the future holds with our baby girl!!
For all of those that aren't sonogram experts... Her little face!  The dark spots are her eyes, her little right hand is by her face, and then her tummy is on the left side of the screen. :)

TOMORROW!

In my best Annie voice, eh-hem "Tomorrow, tomorrow, boy/girl?, tomorrow, it's only a DAY away!!!"  I am SO excited I can hardly stand it!  Tulsa got another 6+ inches of snow today, but Russell and I are determined to make it to our doctor appointment tomorrow!  As long as the office is open, we will be there.  Even if it takes us forever to get there!  Thank goodness for 4 wheel drive in his Jeep!  I imagine if we can stand the cold we will get out and make a purchase or two as well... will we buy something like this?

   Or like this?
Either way we will be SO excited!!!  I can't wait!  Can you tell?!?!

Half Way?!

I can't believe I'm half way there!  I stole these pregnancy highlight questions from a friends blog!  Thanks Amy!  :)

Pregnancy Highlights

How far along?  20 weeks plus a few days

Baby's size? About 10 1/2 ounces and about 10 inches from head to heel.  About the length of a banana!

Weight Gain? Haven't been keeping up with it.  At my 16 weeks appt, I was up 5 lbs - we'll see where I'm at at my next appoint on Feb 10th!

Maternity clothes? Yes!  I am convinced that maternity jeans are the best thing ever invented.  Like I want to wear them when I'm not pregnant.  You can't beat cute on bottom, comfy on top!  I can still get away with some non-maternity things, but my sister-in-law gave me bags of maternity clothes and it's all so cute that I wear it when I can!  My everyday attire is dance pants and a t-shirt for Tippi Toes though. :)

Stretch marks? Nope!  Or not yet anyway.  I have never been a lotion girl...I just feel all slimy and disgusting, but I'm trying to change my ways to avoid the stretch marks.  So far I've only applied like twice though.  Eeek.

Belly Button in or out? In.  But I can already notice a change in it!  My belly button used to be somewhat of a black hole... it was dark and you couldn't see inside.  Russell and I have both noticed we can see the back of my belly button now!  It's like "oh that's what it looks like in there!"  Haha!

Sleeping? So-so.  Poor Russell is being forced to scoot over by the 2 pillows in the bed with me.  I'm a back and stomach sleeper normally, so I've had to completely change my habits and it's not fun!  My hips hurt, I'm anxious for another position, and the weirdest thing - I wake up periodically with numbness in my hands.  Apparently that's a common thing!

Foods I'm loving? Sweets!  But that's not out of the ordinary. :)

Foods I'm hating? Red meat... although if I don't prepare it, sometimes I can stomach it.

Movement? More and more everyday!  In fact, this morning about 6:30am I was already waking up a little bit and feeling the baby move.  Then all the sudden, WHAM!  A kick hard enough that made me open my eyes while lying there.  It actually startled me a little bit.  I think that's been the hardest one yet!

Best moment this week? Probably that kick this morning!  But overall just happy to be feeling good and not sick anymore.

Symptoms? Numbness in my hands at night, occasional heartburn, that's about it really.  I can't complain!

What I miss? Deli meat... turkey sandwiches to be exact.  I know I could heat it up and it would be fine but I like cold sandwiches!

What I'm looking forward to? Our doctor appointment on Thursday!!  We FINALLY get to find out the sex of the baby!!!  And gosh once we know that, looking forward to lots of things!  Finishing our registry, painting, decorating, shopping, baby showers, you name it!

Weekly Wisdom: Keep working hard while I'm feeling good!

Milestones: Half way!

Emotions: Feeling good, but certain things can get the tears started.  Like losing everything in a crashed computer... I haven't cried that hard in a while!

On another note, I haven't left the house since Monday due to the weather!  We got 14+ inches of snow on Tuesday, another 3-5 yesterday, and the roads just look terrible!  I don't plan on leaving the house until they clear up a bit!  Here's some pics of the aftermath of our OK blizzard.
